So I found two patterns that I can use for the contest. Although I am still deciding, my first choice will likely be this pattern from the 1940s:
1940s Mail Order 2952 Misses Shirred Bodice Dress:
Dress with contrasting front bodice and skirt front, belt and collar trimming. Round collar has button and loop closure at neck. Slightly extended kimono sleeves. Bodice is gathered into forward shoulder yoke, gathered into contrast sides. A-line skirt has center contrast panel. Side zipper opening. Topstitching trim.

I just adore this pattern! I can visualize the outer portion being black cotton lawn, which would really accentuate one's waist, giving an hourglass silhouette. I'll use white/black swiss dot pictured below for the center. Hmmm....maybe I can find some classy vintage buttons for the bodice. My second choice is the Simplicity pattern below, also from the 1940s:
Simplicity 3362 Misses Daytime Dress
Blouse is dart-fitted at waistline and gathered in front below the yoke which may be trimmed with rickrack braid or purchased ruffling. The four-piece circular skirt is attached to blouse below natural waistline. Style I has patch pockets and short sleeves gathered at top and pleated at lower edge. Sash is gathered to blouse front and tied at back. Style II has long fitted sleeves. Copyright 1940
What fun!!!

How can you choose between 2 gorgeous patterns?
I love both of these. The fabric is very pretty.
Exactly my dilemma ;) Not sure which I will choose, but I love them both. I thought the second choice was a great pattern for adding some of my vintage lace in the inset at the collar area. Thanks for your feedback!
